Brainstorming: MAC Address/Hardware reporting, Getting ISP's involved, Anti-theft software?
Always been thinking of this idea, and with recent events (iPhone stolen) this has kind of given me a bit more intensive to try and see why there hasn't been any movement on this. Every year around 600000 computers are stolen, thats not including phones. But all now are connecting to the Internet in a way there somthing this powerful medium can do to find it if it re-connects?
What if a machine gets stolen, The next time it gets internet connection it sends you a email of where it is using software installed on the machine? Or if ISP's get involved (slim chance) it notifies or checks against a global list of MAC Addresses and relays this onto the authorities.
Just blogging away some ideas, there are a few products available on the net, but have you heard of any? Thought so, why isn't there a uniform way of dealing with this. It does seem relatively easy to setup.
Peace.

Okay so 'Project: get the HoT'
First iPhone app under construction, i'll keep this blog.project 2 weeks behind of where I am so I can fully document this..kinda.
So.. you wanna make an app huh?
Follow this then:
1. Get Started! - Valuable Guides
2. Become a Registered iPhone Developer. - You will need to be registered
3. iPhone Developer Program - Luckily like me, you could get funded from your work
4. Once you have your registration and your subscription, log into the iPhone Dev Center and begin downloading everything in sight: SDK, videos, sample apps, and documentation.
Getting on the Posterous Bandwagon
So getting very web2.0 savy, suppose being in the IT sector, might be handy. Anyway, will be a place for on goings from @houseoftrouser, my personal blog, and any projects I will be getting my teeth into. Such as iPhone app's and others, more news soon.
Okay space filler... me? Ah good question, Im 20. Blue eyes, Like long walk on beaches, enjoy traveling and poetry. Screw that.
